While I agree that this is not new, what I feel is new is how premium pricing is turning many theatres that had previously been home to mainly plays are now the preferred location for long run musicals. In the past musicals wanted a theatre with many seats--quantity counted, now many 1,600+ seat houses are no longer the most desired as shows want to make sure that every seat sells and the price of each seat goes up.The simple reality is that the theatres hosting Dear Even Hansen or Come From Away or Book of Mormon will not be seeing a play for a very long time.
