In the 1978-1979 season there were 26 plays and 15 musicals that opened in commercial productions on Broadway. The successful musicals were SWEENEY TODD, BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE and THEY'RE PLAYING MY SONG. Flops included CARMELINA, I REMEMBER MAMA, and KING OF HEARTS.

Plays? CRUCIFER OF BLOOD, WINGS, ON GOLDEN POND, ZOOT SUIT, WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY, THE ELEPHANT MAN, and BOSOMS AND NEGLECT.
