Does the film ever state Oliver's actual age? He's 24 in the book, but Hammer comes across as being at least in his late 20s... which for me makes the relationship more interesting. As for the parents, it's the 80s and they're philosophically European. I bought it.

Truthfully, I wish I had seen a play this year that approached the sensitivity, intelligence, and delicious ambiguity of this film. This was a great year for performance on stage, but not so much for plays and playwriting.
