| Someone more adept at these things will fact check your presumptions of financial failure, for the handful of past shows Peters starred in. But Donna Murphy is arguably less of a box office name than Peters, and she pulled respectably for all of the Midler vacations. This production is an audience pleasing event with Midler, but as many have noted, it arrived at a time when its warm traditional musical comedy vibes just seemed to embrace the public across the footlights. It's hard to believe it won't do well enough to be a modest success with Peters. |
