I said to my friend that watching this Dolly must be the musical theater equivalent to seeing The Rolling Stones: the audience response to iconic moments was HUGE, before they had even happened, and (at least to me) thoroughly out of scale with what was actually on stage. There's a nostalgia factor at work that's very powerful.
I think you're right that it will continue to do well with whoever is in it, even if it stops setting house records. |
