| It was a little more than acceptance on the part of the parents. They (especially the father) encouraged and even conspired to make it happen. I did enjoy the movie a lot -- it's well acted and beautifully filmed, but no matter how consensual it is, a sexual relationship between a 17-year old kid and an (approximately) 30-year old (his age is unspecified in the film) adult is morally wrong. Oliver should have turned Elio down (gently) or should have told him to wait a year. |
