First of all, the character of Oliver is 24, not 30. (and the actors were 21 and 31) But why would it be morally wrong even if he was 30? There is no power dynamic, there is no coercion, and Oliver's closet has probably stunted his maturity a bit. Why wait a year? What's the difference between 17 and 18? As mentioned in this thread, the age of consent in Italy is 14, and is 16 in most US states. I wouldn't say that the parents "encouraged" (and certainly didn't "conspire"). Once they saw what was already going on, they let them be and offered them the opportunity to enjoy what they had.
