There's source material here. Oliver is 24 - not 30 - and a grad student, not a professor. The father is a professor, and every summer invites a grad student to do research with him.
And what does 18 matter here? It's Italy in 1983. All sex between men is illegal, but there's no age-of-consent violation portrayed. Can you only see a film through the lens of late 2017? Do you truly believe that couplings like this don't happen, or just that filmmakers shouldn't depict it? Should art no longer reflect truth because some men can't keep it in their pants? |
