It must be longer ago than it seems, but our large group of friends used to start NYE at a Broadway show. In addition to the festive environment (we went in black tie), it kept us from over indulging for a couple of key hours (!) We saw The Boy From Oz, Mario Cantone’s Laugh Whore and Chita Rivera - A Dancer’s Life, all fantastic. One year, at the height of its popularity, The Producers had a special NYE performance and we all met at Angus McAndoe for drinks before our show, only to find that Mel Brooks and Ann Bancroft were having drinks there as well. New York at its best!
