In the comparable week last year, Broadway grosses totaled $49,710,192 for 33 shows. The average admission price of $164 was also impressive. But not attendance. A number of shows had nine performances instead of the usual eight. — The 2016 revival of Cats closed at the Neil Simon Theatre on Saturday after 16 previews and 593 regular performances. The cumulative gross was $65,624,091. Capitalization was $11 million. Sales were only so-so throughout the run. For all of last year (2017), the musical averaged $90 a ticket and played to 81% of capacity, both paid and comped. — Home for the Holidays, the musical revue, managed to stay open for its announced run of 53 performances (6 previews; 47 regular) at the August Wilson Theatre. Closing Saturday night, the show posted some of the worst box office results ever reported. The cumulative gross was $481,817 which was less than 5% of its potential gross. The average admission was $24 and, on average, only about 33% of the seats were occupied, both paid and comped.
