Robert Moses has been a character on stage before -- in The Radiant City by Theodora Skipitares in 1991, Boozy by Alex Timbers in 2005, and in this season’s Illyria, where he’s mentioned as Joseph Papp’s nemesis in the fight to create Free Shakespeare in Central Park. He has always been presented as a villain.
“Bulldozer” attempts something of a more balanced portrait, at least initially.
I detect in all this the influence of Robert Caro's mammoth biography of Robert Moses.
