It's been over 20 years since this was on Broadway. It came at a time when Kiss of the Spider Woman was hot in all shapes and forms--a novel, movie, musical, play, heck, likely even a breakfast cereal.
I saw the musical in London with a steely Bebe Neuwirth. There were some unintentionally laugh-out-loud lyrics like "I don't miss him inside me," and "There are big breasted women over the wall," as well as cringeworthy cliches like "I know him like the back of my hand, back of my hand" and "He's going to hell in a handbasket."
That said, I'd like a chance to re-evaluate this without the original hooplah. It's time- |
