Greenwich House issued an RFP last year with proposals due February 2017, looking for a NFP to take over the theatre for an initial 5 years. If Scott Morfee and his team was ready to quit and retire, fair enough. Otherwise, they were virtually the only commercial off Broadway theatre that went from stregnth to stregnth. Despite how wonderful ARS NOVA is - Barrow Street shoudnt be shunted aside when they are successful.
This is the equivalent of what landlords are doing all over the Village. Throwing out perfectly good, successful businesses because they want a new tenant.
I hope we hear the whole story, and the Mr Morfee and his team have NOT been forced out. |
