I love Webber and especially Bernstein - but it's a bit insane to me to honor them in the same breath.
Also, as good as Platt is... it's a shame they didn't use this as a chance to feature any hispanic singers. Obviously Platt will be singing Tony, I assume/hope "Maria", and Tony is not hispanic, but WSS is one of the few scores, especially celebrated ones, that feature any let alone so many parts for hispanic people. Strange to me to choose this piece, in this day and age, and pick one of the white guy songs. Though I do adore "Maria." |
