It looks as if DEH will most certainly survive the departure of Ben Platt and could be a hot ticket on Broadway for a decade or more. With that in mind, they will need to be on the lookout for young talent who can handle such a monumental role. My vote for future Evan goes to former Broadway Gavroche, Joshua Colley. I vaguely remember he had a role in the pre-Broadway "A Bronx Tale" but was unable to repeat the role on Broadway due to his voice change. Well, based on his performance in this video (and others), I would say his voice change hit his vocal chords like a silk glove. This guy is definitely in it for the long run. Here he is covering DEH's "For Forever", but check him out as the youngest Jean Valjean or as Angelica Schuyler in other videos that show off his great stage presence.
Anyone know of any potential Evans out there??? |
