Oh, trust me, as a writer and director I'm aware of this. I didn't mean to diminish their work before the show goes up, or how free it usually is until there's money. And I think there is a big reason they continue to make money from the show -- they are the show, the show goes on without the cast. But it doesn't go *on* without *a* cast, which is why, though the writing (and to a much lesser extent) the directing is paramount to what a show is and why it works and why it would have a life, the people playing the roles and bringing it actually to life each performance deserve a more fair system of compensation. I'm not saying they aren't being compensated when they get their base salaries (which are shockingly low as it is), but it's about when the show starts charging more than the normal ticket price, and things like that. Hamilton is the Walmart of Broadway in terms of profit vs employee salaries, and I'm actually quite surprised they haven't been called out for it till now, if this even counts as that.
