And musicals even lower recoup, when do you want these actors to get this percentage? Most actors are gone by the time the musical recoups in 8 months to 2 years.
As for $2k salary is $100k a year, which is a good salary for most people. Not everyone has to live in manhatten. The real problem is that its not steady work at that salary. Many work only a few months before a show flops or limited run closes and then months or more until the next gig. So what you are really saying is that actors should be paid a lot more to cover the down town. I dont think you will find many occupations that do that. Even teachers get summer jobs to cover expenses because most teachers make less than $100k. |
