Every song is an anthem that doesn't do that much to forward the story. I don't think this would have a long life in the theater without tons of retooling. I enjoyed the movie but feel it just didn't get fantastical enough, like, say, Moulin Rouge--THAT would have made it more interesting.

I completely agree. It needed to go all in to work. I spent much of the film thinking: "what is this supposed to be?"
