| And the film, while not breaking records seems to be holding and will likely break 100 million domestically at the very least. | |

| Actually, The Greatest Showman DID set one box office record, which Forbes discusses below. (Not sure how the film will do profit-wise, but it appears it won't be the big money-loser many were predicting it would be after the first weekend.) |

| It is scheduled for release in 2 big movie musicals markets in Asia ( China on February 1 and Japan on February 18). Maybe the international release of the soundtrack will be a great calling card for SHOWMAN.. | |

| ''The Greatest Showman'' was budgeted at $84 million, and cost tons to promote, so the road to any recoupment will be a long one. | |

| It's not 1985 anymore where US theatrical rentals was crucial to recouping or studios had their creative accounting . Now there is also huge foreign grosses, PPV, Digital sales, Blu-ray/DVD sales, On Demand, Premium cable fees, basic cable fees added to the gross. There should be no problem for "The Greatest Showman" to make a profit. | |

| There are also major product placements/tie-ins which can reduce the film's production or marketing budgets. In the case of SHOWMAN, big tie-ups were with such stores as Bloomingdale's in NYC and Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Jackman also appeared as Barnum with a line-up of high-end luxury goods from Montblanc, for which he has been a brand ambassador for sometime. The world premiere was a joint project with Cunard Lines and the premiere was held at the QueenMary2 when it was on dock in NYC. | |

| I've been shocked to see the amount of marketing tie-ins... | |

| It's a little bit of *everywhere.* It almost feels like a summer blockbuster action hero showing up in my Happy Meal. I've seen tie ins at music stores (like a Yamaha instrument store), multiple high-end stores, and even online with WiFi purchases while traveling. Whoever marketed this puppy should be congratulated. The dropoff from first / second / third frames were indeed very impressive. - GMB, who has essentially zero desire to see this movie |

| The most effective was likely the tie-in with Amazon, where the order is encased in a red box designed to advertise the movie. | |

| Probably not. The international gross is the same as the domestic right now; $74 million. That's almost $150 million and the film has many international territories left to play. Add in the music revenues and "The Greatest Showman" looks to be what everyone wants in show biz: a hit. | |

| The Greatest Showman had the smallest drop of any movie in the Top 10 after the holidays (except for movies that opened small and are expanding). Considering how disappointing the first weekend sales were, it's done very well since, which means good word of mouth. It would not be surprising for Pasek and Paul to win the Oscar again, especially since the competition does not seem to be that strong. |
