... a non-binary or genderless character being played by a non-binary or genderless performer, yet clearly being an awards-worthy performance.
My guess is that it'll happen in TV or Film before it happens onstage. Oddly enough, in this 'golden age' of Television, it's the theater that's becoming a bit retrograde & traditional.
Personally, I think it'd be perfectly do-able for us to evaluate actors simply by the performance, without requiring gender categories.
