I've seen Disney do this with their Aladdin / Jasmine "face characters" who do meet and greets at Disney Parks worldwide. The most recent Aladdin that I saw at a Disney park was very obviously a white guy wearing bronzer.
More often than not, the Aladdin and Jasmin are something other than white... but I have white friends who have played Aladdin for Disney before.
