Did anyone go to the Second Stage Theater's CARDINAL first preview?

Hi Talkin' Broadway Members,
I'm thinking about seeing this later in the month and wondered what people here think of the play?
Thanks!

Only for Anna Chlumsky fans.

Otherwise, not recommended.
A slight play that meanders for 95 mins.
Interesting set-up and a few good ideas, but it doesn't go anywhere meaningful.
It doesn't know what it wants to be. All diversions and loose ends.

I have to agree. The first tens minutes were great fun and in the next scene it all fell apart!

I saw the 4th preview. Becky Ann Baker has one really good scene but the playwright does not know how to pull his play together, and he resorts to some sort-of ridiculous plot devices at the end. I didn't think Anna Chlumsky was that great--she seemed sort of the same tone all night long, but part of the fault was also the playwright's--they referred to her huge debt, and her Jewishness, several times but neither one seemed to be at all a part of that character's personality. So, good concept, all over the place. Also I liked Stephen Park, as the Chinese father, very much.
