Um Kristin would've made a good Minnie Fay 20 years ago. Not now. That's like when people said Pierce should've been playing Cornelius instead of Horace! Kristin would be a perfect Dolly now. Can act, sing, do comedy, and like Channing and other past Dollys, she is unique. There's no one else like her.

It has nothing to do with Pierce playing Cornelius (???), even when he would have been the right age to do so. I think Chenoweth, even with the talents she has, would be a terrible idea for Dolly. She would be, even now, with her helium squeak of a speaking voice, perfect for Minnie Fay.

Not just regarding Chenoweth, but it's interesting to me when I hear people say that this or that actress wouldn't be right for Dolly, because the role has been played by such a wide range of actresses over the years. It seems like every person who plays it brings something of their own to the role and I don't see any reason why Chenoweth (or anyone else) wouldn't do the same.

Wonder if there are any plans for a made-for-television (not LIVE) re-make of HELLO,DOLLY! once the Broadway (national tour) ends.
Bet Ms. Chenoweth would not mind playing a supporting role opposite the Divine Miss M. on CBS
They could have Carol Channing introduce the program, the way Danny Kaye did for the annual broadcast of "The Wizard of Oz" also on CBS back in the sixties.
