We don't know how the questions were worded on the actual survey, but the press release just says that the Broadway playgoer saw nine shows in the past year. and the Broadway musical attendee saw four. It doesn't say that the nine/four shows were Broadway shows, nor does it specify whether those nine/four shows are plays or musicals. (It also doesn't say if nine/four are averages or medians or what.)
My interpretation would be that the nine/four shows are ANY shows: Broadway or local, play or musical. The general idea that playgoers are more avid theater consumers than musical attendees is probably true. I'm not sure that we can read a whole lot else into the press release, given how unclear it is. |
