Howard Miller takes a look at John Lithgow: Stories By Heart:

I love listening to a good story. One of my fondest childhood memories is that of my father reading aloud to me a Ray Bradbury story when I was about 10. This bonding experience had such a powerful impact on me that to this day Bradbury remains my favorite author. So, yes, I get the impetus for John Lithgow: Stories By Heart, in which the actor, in tribute to his own father, brings the art of theatrical storytelling to the stage of the American Airlines Theatre. It's as simple as the explanation Mr. Lithgow gives to the audience: "All theatre is stories and all actors are storytellers." But it's also as complicated as the follow-up question he poses: "Why are all of you here tonight, staring at me for two hours, listening to me talk talk talk?" To which one might add, "at Broadway prices?" . . .
