| I saw the 4th preview. Becky Ann Baker has one really good scene but the playwright does not know how to pull his play together, and he resorts to some sort-of ridiculous plot devices at the end. I didn't think Anna Chlumsky was that great--she seemed sort of the same tone all night long, but part of the fault was also the playwright's--they referred to her huge debt, and her Jewishness, several times but neither one seemed to be at all a part of that character's personality. So, good concept, all over the place. Also I liked Stephen Park, as the Chinese father, very much. |
