I also liked it a lot. I agree with some of the posters below that complain about its length. I think it could have been trimmed especially towards the end. Also, the whole poop incident went on for too long and it was unnecessary as a metaphor for the anger/resentment of one of the characters. It is a little frustrating but I enjoyed it a lot.
Unfortunately, I do not think it is getting the reception it deserves. Some of my theatre savvy friends hardly know about it. I think that the reality of mounting a play without "stars" is quickly approaching its demise. Sad but it is what it is. I recommend it to anyone interested in contemporary theatre. It is a pity that HP will win all the awards for play. "The Children" deserves some of those awards. And, yes, I saw HP in London. |
