| Considering the list of actresses who've played the role over the years, I could see just about any 40+ actress in this role. This list of women (and a couple of men) who've taken it on is astounding and Dolly seems to be one of those roles that will stretch to accommodate whatever the specific performer brings to it. To that end, Christine Ebersole could be a great Dolly. So too could Sutton Foster, Audra MacDonald, Patti LuPone, Betty Buckley, Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Kristin Chenoweth, or [fill in the blank here]. |
