'Who will buy' ... Disney's remake of 'Oliver!' starring Ice Cube as Fagin?

It's news to me, but Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of ''Hamilton,'' is directing Disney's remake of ''Oliver!''

Ice Cube will play Fagin, and the reimagined ''Oliver!'' will ''feature a cross-genre soundtrack that includes hip hop.''

Ice Cube also will be one of the movie's producers, along with Marc Platt (''La La Land'').

Which ''Oliver!'' song sums up your reaction and expectations? ''It's a Fine Life,'' ''That's Your Funeral'' or ''I Shall Scream''? ;)

That is an embarrassing Deadline.com reporting mistake.

The rights to Lionel Bart's Oliver! are Sony's; not Disney. Sony, Working Title and Cameron Mackintosh are in very late-stage development of an Oliver's remake, with rumors of Adele and Eddie Redmayne being offered the parts of Nancy and Fagin. (I know, the latter is ridiculous.)

Anita Busch from deadline just made a lot of erroneous and unprofessional assumptions. What's in play here is Disney own version of Oliver - probably a modern-day adaptation, set in the US. The Hollywood Reporter story is a lot more accurate.
