I'm with you! The theatre program I was in in college did Grease the year before I started the program and I remember thinking how devastated I would be for that musical to be selective for serious musical theatre training ground. Fun for high schools and community theatre, sure, bring it on.
I won't be seeing this, but I also have to give them props because they put on excellent shows that I generally love seeing. And this is the exception to their programming, in my experience. Floyd Collins, Violet, Spiderwoman, City of Angels, Sweet Smell of Success, Light in the Piazza, Secret Garden, Drood, Grand Hotel. Quite a selection of interesting choices, some very meaty, some rarely done. |
