A few years ago carol Shorenstein Hayes ended a long relationship with nederlanders and took her theater with her. So nederlanders have been running a best of Broadway series at orpheum and golden gate and I thnk charged around $600 for 6 shows last season ( I don't remember the exact figure but I think it was around $100 a show).
Ms. Hayes has spent a lot of money refurbishing the curran theater and there have been a few shows like fun home and bright star at the theater, She now has a 4 show subscription--dear Evan Hansen tour launch, prebroadway musicals head over heals and soft power. And a final show of talor macs holiday sauce. There are two orchestra prices with premium being $750 for the four shows and $400 for side and rear orch.
I don't think nederlanders have sold premium priced subscription. I think long time subscribers have been in this section paying regular subscription prices and just their loyalty of renewing get them there.
Are other cities charging premium pricing subscription? It probably is the next evolution of outrageous pricing. |
