Parents of kids may be looking at this show and thinking one or both of two things:

1) Why pay a lot of money to see something you can see at home on TV for free?
2) How is this show different from the kiddie-aimed arena shows that tour every year and which are cheaper and closer to home?

Disney has pretty successfully surmounted the first point with their shows, but Disney has often proved to be the exception to any rule. People have a love of the Disney brand that supersedes the actual quality of any given experience and anything with their branding attached has to be a real stinker (Hello, TARZAN!) to not succeed.

And, with the exception of their Disney on Ice shows, you're also not seeing Disney product at the local sports arena when the team is out of town. So a pilgrimage into New York to see ALADDIN or THE LION KING or whatever seems like more of an event than it would if they'd just seen ALADDIN'S DESERT ADVENTURE at Nassau Coliseum for $20 apiece with a discount from McDonald's.

SPONGEBOB has to figure out how to tell parents that their show is something special and worthy of their once-a-year trip into New York with the kids and I'm not sure they've figured out how to do that.
