HIGH BUTTON SHOES

There's a new page on "Memories of Melody Top" about a 1978 production of what we all must agree is a forgotten musical -- HIGH BUTTON SHOES. Starring Monty Hall and Anne Jeffreys, it was produced at Milwaukee's Melody Top under a newly constructed "wooden dome." This dome replaced the old tent, and it was a fixture on the city's far northwest side until it burned down in the fall of 1991. Take a few minutes to remember this fun and sweet musical comedy which thrived in barns, tents and auditoriums decades ago:

I saw this production! It was a lot of fun. Summer stock was a great way to get exposed to shows like this.

I remember seeing a tv version with Garry Moore when I was a kid. The only other "version" was the numbers included in Jerome Robbins' Broadway.

I remember that one, thanks for letting me know it wasn't only in my dreams. Durward Kirby was Pontdue to Moore's Harrison Floy. I have no memory of who played Mama. One thing I do remember is that they had one chorus of the Birdwatchers Song which was not on the cast album. I also remember that I taped it (audio only) and listened multiple times. One reason I was so fascinated is that I had been in a production at my HS, chorus only as I was a Sophomore.
