| I think recording the who complete (or near-complete) with dialogue and additional music not heard on the OCR was a smart decision to help market the London recording for its completeness. The OCR sold very well, so presumably the thought was that people needed a compelling reason to buy another recording other than the fact that most of the cast was different. Also, since Joan Diener's husband, Albert Marre, was the show's producer, I've always thought the complete London recording was done largely for her sake. As I'm sure you know, she made THREE recordings of the score -- the two we're discussing here, and the French language cast album with Jacques Brel. |
