"Riedel's assertion that Jackman became famous doing THE BOY FROM OZ is an odd one."
Also, to clarify, Jonathan Groff did not actually play Bobby Darin in this show, as Riedel phrased it. He and the other performers narrated the facts of Darin's life -- with some quotes, of course -- through direct address to the audience in the dialogue between the songs.
P.S. It was indeed a great show, and Jonathan was phenomenal in it. It was very exciting, all the more so because I don't think anyone would previously have thought of Jonathan's onstage personality and singing style as similar to Bobby Darin's in any way. But it turned out to be a brilliant match. Below is a link to our Jan. 7 "This Week on Broadway" podcast for BroadwayStars.com, with Jonathan as our special guest, discussing the Darin show while he was in rehearsal for it. |
