I admit to being obsessed with Bobby Darin as a preteen - I personally don't see a match in personality, at least from what I've seen Groff do, but it has to be better than the travesty that was Spacey as Darin. I've heard a couple of cabaret singers that came close to the singing style (without trying to do an impersonation).
But Darin's life story is really interesting - enough for a show (and there is a musical, called Dream Love - done in Australia with David Campbell in the role) - more interesting than the backstories for most jukebox musicals. |
