| But 1980 as a date is being used (as was 1970, which I think very much now was wrong of me to say) for the date after which the writer would have had broadway prominence or at least their debut. Stoppard had his debut and began prominence in the 60s, so he is not eligible anymore for this admittedly trivial discussion... but he was also, by the same logic, not eligible when the parameters were 1970... he won the 1968 Best Play Tony Award! |
