As for number 1, that may be true and would be a fair question for parents to ask... but why haven't they asked themselves that about all the Disney properties except for Lion King which clearly as an uber-theatricality and craft/design that distinguishes it as an almost entirely other piece and experience from the movie it's based on (even before you know that there are several "new" songs that are often better than the known ones from the movie - i used quotes because I think most or all of those songs are developed from unsung songs in the movie, instrumental without lyrics - i forget the facts there).
I'd say most parents take their kids the stage version of movies and tv shows the kids love and could see for free/$20 to own at home because they think they will get something from the live experience, even if it's ends up being just the same thing slapped on a stage. |
