I will say for what it's worth I was *even* more interested in seeing The Band's Visit because Itmar Moses had written the book, even though I'm not a devotee of his nor is his a regularly known Broadway playwright... I would have seen the show regardless of who wrote the book though, so it's kind of irrelevant, but if the show hadn't gotten raves from almost everyone, perhaps there's a world in which it would have made the difference of me buying a ticket or not.

Also with someone who is writing *original* musical, like John Weidman with Sondheim, having loved Pacific Overtures I might have been all the more interested to see what those two did for another original musical on Assassins, and vice versa depending on when one had seen either work.

Or if I book writer were, let's say, especially good at writing comedy and funny dialogue... I might look extra forward to their next musical regardless of the composer, or be inclined to see it live to see their work even if the score or full show didn't interest me or didn't get the best reviews. But maybe not! ha
