Re-read my posting. I never said that. I said Feldman & Menken ''wrote some terrific stuff for the 2012 stage adaptation.''
For me (if not you), the new songs dovetailed well with the older ones, which I pointed out are my favorites.
I have no doubt that Tony voters consider Menken one of their own, as opposed to Wildhorn, who made his name writing pop tunes.
That said, I consider Wildhorn's work wrongfully maligned, and I love his melodic, Americana score to ''Bonnie & Clyde.''
Frankly, I wish Best Score could've been a tie: as it was in 1993, between ''Kiss of the Spider Woman'' & ''The Who's Tommy.'' |
