Yep.

And this is especially interesting and a more of a waste in at least the sense of having "cred" for utilizing a Hispanic writer because this is not a new thing... there is ALREADY A SCRIPT. By Arthur Laurents. A very acclaimed one, which was the basis for the screenplay which already exists too as it was the script for the massively successful movie, based heavily on the Laurents musical book. So I'm not sure how much anyone "writing" this remake would have to do. It's hard to know. But I don't think it requires the hiring of an established script writing genius or has always written original scripts to write the screenplay of a remake of a film adaptation of a musical that most consider perfectly written as is. So why not hire a Hispanic writer to do that so their name is on it, and whatever is being changed can be done through the filter of a person with a personal connection and sensitivity to the Hispanic experience and culture and people etc?
