| I think we are all entitled to our own reactions, but I do think it is important to avoid focusing on charges. As I said elsewhere, that only relates to what the state does, based on an assessment of the reasonable doubt standard. There is a different standard for non-criminal situations, and sanctions based on those assessments are common in many contexts, ranging from dismissal (even based on external conduct where it affects the stature of an entity) to opprobrium. |
