| And yet, in point of fact (rather than what was incorrectly asserted as a fact), there were two lawsuits, and they were settled out of court. In many of these cases that is the farthest any will get. Again, I'm not a fan of "lynch mob" or "witch hunt" mentality, or enforcing grave consequences on someone off an unproven accusation, but *nonetheless* and *in reality* a big part of the point here is that with the majority of sexual harassment and assault accusations, there is not going to be actual evidence that can prove it one way or another, and not only is the system stacked against women who speak out but there are also consequences in career and personal life for doing that but without any resolving or vindicating results. So it's very hard to know when or why to not believe someone vs when to, in the many situations where there will not be proof either way. |
