Steve Martin's film ROXANNE credited Rostand for Cyrano. ME OF RESPECT, based on Macbeth, credits Shakespeare. THRONE OF BLOOD does not credit Shakespeare, though IMDB giuves him an uncredited credit. THE LION KING doesnt credit Shakespeare , though it does have 27 writers; TEN THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (Taming of the SHrew) doesnt credit Shakespeare' FORBIDDEN PLANET (the Tempest) does not credit Shakespeare.

Which takes me back to Gary Ross being nominated for Best Original Screenplay (not based on previously published material) for DAVE. Whether Prisoner of Zenda, The Phantom President novel, or The Phantom President screenplay, its not an original screenplay.
