I thought Gere was terrific as Billy Flynn, and for the record, he got many rave reviews for his acting and fancy footwork.

Gere should've be nominated for an Oscar, but his big tap dance was undercut by the way it was shot. You couldn't always see his face.

Because of all the quick-cutting, some questioned if Gere did all of his own tapping, but an ''outraged'' Rob Marshall insists Gere did.

Happily, Gere didn't go unrewarded. He won a Golden Globe and was nominated for Best Actor by SAG, and shared SAG's Ensemble prize.
