Your memory is right. When the Grammy nominations were first announced, only Ben Platt was listed as the principal soloist for ''Dear Evan Hansen'' (and Bette Midler was the only principal soloist on ''Hello, Dolly!,'' and ''Come From Away'' listed none).
Yet when I go to the Grammys.com, it lists 8 principal soloists winning for ''Dear Evan Hansen.''
I could swear there had been a rule change, since ''Hamilton,'' that curtailed the abuse of listing so many multiple principal soloists.
But I Googled around and couldn't find anything about any rule changes, either way. Maybe someone else here knows more ... |
