Has HELLO, DOLLY! ever toured without a star headliner?
I just keep remembering the first national tour of SUNSET BOULEVARD for which the powers that were kept insisting that the show was the star and not Glenn Close or whomever. That did not work out well for them.
I wonder if people will be willing to spend Broadway tour prices for just HELLO, DOLLY! and not [Starry Headliner] in HELLO, DOLLY!. I guess that may depend on what else is being offered in their subscription packages.
Christine Ebersole (or Faith Prince) might actually be star enough, especially if the reviews on the road are as good as they were in New York. But I'm not sure I'd be putting out a tour with Linda Mugleston, as talented as she is and as great as she probably was in the part. |
