Comedy of Bad Manners Transfers to Off-Broadway
KOALAS ARE DICKS
Previews begin February 1 at Theatre 80

After an acclaimed workshop production in April that garnered three NYIT Award nominations, Larry Phillips' KOALAS ARE DICKS will make its Off-Broadway debut at Theatre 80 St. Marks. Produced by Randomly Specific Theater and directed by Ben Liebert, previews begin February 1 with opening slated for February 8.

Brody is America's favorite TV koala. To the public, he is the Sandra Bullock of marsupials, but those who know him are more likely to draw comparisons to Charlie Sheen or Harvey Weinstein. Brody has just stormed off the set of his wildly popular sitcom and refuses to return to work until the producers agree to meet his demands for full creative control. Holed up in a sleazy LAX motel, Brody has enough booze and drugs to last for months. Desperate to get their koala star back on track, his agent, wrangler, and co-star all try to make Brody see reason. But is their concern truly for Brody's future, or their own? KOALAS ARE DICKS is a dark Hollywood comedy about fame, friendship, ruthless ambition, and a foul-mouthed celebrity marsupial.

KOALAS ARE DICKS stars Griffin Hennelly (NYIT Award nominee for Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role for the workshop of Koalas Are Dicks), Patrick T. Horn (The Dead at Irish Rep), Peter Buck Dettmann (Othello with the American Theater of Actors), Tiffany Mae McRae (G.I. Joe Jared at 59E59th), Larry Phillips (Adam Szymkowicz's The Why Overhead) and Phoebe Leonard (Salome with Rebel Theater). The production is supported by the Howard Otway and Florence Otway Opportunity Project (www.hofopro.org).

Larry Phillips is an actor, playwright, and founding member of Randomly Specific Theatre. As a playwright, his produced works include The Rise of Mediocrity (Best Play nominee at FringeNYC 2016), Learning to Skip (Randomly Specific), Arbuckle Syndrome (2015 NY Theatre Festival, Best Play Nominee), Secondary Pitch (Randomly Specific).

Ben Liebert served as assistant director on the national tour of The Producers, associate director of The Pavilion, and is the co-creator and director of the rock show Viper plays the Top Gun Soundtrack Live. Ben serves as an Actors' Equity Chorus Councillor and a career coach with The Biz of Show.

Randomly Specific Theater was founded in 2014 by Phoebe Leonard, Larry Phillips and Peter Buck Dettmann as an independent production company aiming to create, develop and produce new works for the stage. Their first two productions, Secondary Pitch and Learning to Skip, both by Larry Phillips, premiered at the Bridge Theatre at Shetler Studios in 2014 and 2015 respectively. In 2016, they premiered Phoebe Leonard's Accumulated Heartbreak Disorder at Access Theatre in TriBeCa, and in April 2017, they produced a workshop of Koalas are Dicks at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios.
