| Very sad to hear about Rick's passing. I, too, saw Broadway: Beyond the Golden Age when it was shown at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2016 and enjoyed it very much and wondered what had become of it, as I don't think it was ever released commercially. There was quite a nice section on a very young John Rubinstein when he played Pippin, and the showing was a couple of days before John was going to open in Palm Desert in the revival of Pippin as Charlemagne. Had also seen Broadway: the Golden Age when it had a special showing in Palm Springs many years ago, and there was a panel discussion led by the very charming Rick with several of the Golden Age stars taking part in it, among them Robert Goulet, Patricia Morison, Carol Channing, Janis Paige, Jerry Herman, Kaye Ballard and Charles Durning. It was quite an evening. I hope Beyond the Golden Age will get a DVD release as a companion to the wonderful first film. |
