One of my favorite, always; bought it when it opened.

I was in high school. It was one of the first albums I heard played in its entirety on the radio. I loved the overture, I loved almost every number. By the time the really dreary bus and truck slash 2nd national slash whatever (not with Diana Sands by then; Cynthia White, but I have no memory of her. Kim Weston was gone, too) played DC, the touring show was something of a shambles. The name in the show was Julius Larosa.

But that recording is just sublime. Everything Uggams does is perfection. "Talking to Yourself" remains one of Styne's finest creations. And I'll take the original "Being Good" over Streisand's.
